Locale | RVR on Abbot Kinney in Venice
An ode to Japanese California Cooking. If you have not been to RVR yet, move it to the top of your list. Chef Travis Lett, the culinary force behind Gjelina, has returned to Abbot Kinney with this Japanese izakaya that is rooted in seasonality and a real sense of place. This is a room with personality, energy, and food that makes you want to come back every week.
"On my most recent visit I sat at the end corner booth. Which the Sommelier will tell you is the best in the restaurant as it is both private but allows direct views into the kitchen - where the magic happens - and allows an elevated perch to take in the bustling dining room scene. The lights are dim, lit with 1950's era fixtures - it feels airy, warm, and energized. The DJ spins an eclectic mix that enhances the vibe without intruding on personal conversations. The meat skewers are so good - but do not overlook the many vegetable dishes that were out of this world great. The craft cocktails and wine flow. The only thing better is sharing these moments with friends."
